安德烈（皮亚托·杰米PietroGermi饰）是一名火车司机，他个性古板脾气火爆，常常对妻子茱莉亚（西娃·科丝西娜SylvaKoscina饰）大发脾气，对女儿萨拉（路易莎·黛拉·诺斯LuisaDellaNoce饰）也没有好脸色。终于，茱莉亚再也忍受不了安德烈的脾气了，她带着女儿离开了家。之后，安德烈又在工作上和同事发生了激烈的纠纷，一怒之下，他辞掉了工作，在街头过起了流浪汉的生活，这段放纵的生活彻底毁掉了安德烈的健康，虽然最终，他的妻子和孩子都回到了他的身边，他和同事之间也和解了，但留给安德烈的时间已经不多了。
