真如禅寺的僧人继续保持着严格的寺院守则，该守则由中国禅宗的开国祖师于1,200多年前制定。僧侣们与养育他们的土地和谐相处，经营着一个有机农场，种植茶叶并收获竹子作为烹饪燃料。在这个社区的中心，一群隐居的禅修者每天花八个小时静坐。
